Home made Motion Capture

Using the software Zign Track Pro, a web cam and some green paper to create some home made facial motion capture. The University doesn't have the facilities to create facial mo cap and as I covered it within my research document I thought I would give this a try.

Face Robot

In my research document I looked at creating facial animation and the techniques used to do so, I covered the animation pipeline face robot created by blur studios in connection with autodesk softimage. Face Robot is now integrated into softimage so I have downloaded the software and been playing around with the technique. So far it's been going pretty slowly as it's completely new to me but it's only my first day so hopefully it will get better. Not use whether to use this in one of my artefacts or not yet?

Speakers animation

Need to start building up my portfolio so aiming to start a few mini projects. Here I want to create a little speaker animation.

PDF presentation

When submitting my entry to YCN last week they stated that they preferred to see the work presented through a pdf presentation. So here are a few stills from what I put together. It shows and outlines some of the inspirations and thoughts behind my entry.

YCN Submission

Last week was the deadline for the YCN student competition, I created an entry for the Feel Good Drinks brief: make us famous and fruit not sugar. For this I created a new character for their company to act as a mascot. This was in the form of a ring tailed lemur. I chose this animal as lemurs have a fruit based diet and the feel good drinks are made with 100% real fruit with no added sugar. Lemurs are also currently listed as endangered and having researched the feel good drink company I found that they have had previous involvement with charities.They also give each member of their team 5 extra days holiday a year to do some volunteering work, therefore I thought an charitable campaign would work well for this company. I created an short animation featuring my lemur character I also created a few 'campaign images' to accompany my animation.

There are still quite a few changes I wish to make to my animation before the University deadline. For example there are a few animating mistakes like his hand goes through the table so I need to correct all of these. I also want to add in sound effects as I only had time to add in the backing track for this version. Then I also want to loosen up most of my animation and exaggerate it a little more especially the walk cycle. Apart from all of that I'm pretty happy ish with the outcome so far.

Logo Edits

From the first scanned in logo to final edit, although still might make a few changes like different typeface and so on. This logo will be used towards the campaign side of my project, I haven't decided whether to change the logo's seen in my animation to this one yet.
